THOUSANDS of people turned out yesterday to enjoy the fun, fashion, food and culture on show at the 14th Middlesbrough Mela.
The good weather played its part in the success of the multi-cultural extravaganza with the summer sun helping to draw the crowds.
Lasting seven hours, the celebration took place in the town's Albert Park. The programme was headlined by Raghav, compered by Anwar Shad and featured The Spice Dancers, RDB and E=mc, Manak E and Rangeela.
Asian food stalls, children's activities, Crow's fair and fashion stalls all added to the exciting atmosphere.
Visitors were also able to discover the history behind the Asian sport of kabaddi, a 4,000 year-old team game that requires skill and power while combining parts of rugby and wrestling.
The Mela started in the town centre in 1991 but soon outgrew its surroundings and had to be found a new home at Albert Park.
