A COMMUNITY grant is helping to support a scheme to keep Middlesbrough youngsters safe.
The £350 award from North Eastern and Cumbrian Co-op's community dividend fund has helped enable free booklets on health and safety issues to be distributed to a dozen primary schools in the town.
The booklet, which comes with worksheets, has been produced by the voluntary group Safe and Sound and is aimed at children aged five and six.
With the help of illustrations, subjects including fire safety, truancy, misuse of drugs, road safety and the dangers of talking to strangers are covered.
