A SMALL primary school has swept the board by picking up awards in a host of sports competitions.
Three different sports squads have secured district trophies for St Charles RC Primary School, in Tudhoe, near Spennymoor.
The 32-strong athletics squad won the John Nelson Memorial Trophy in a Spennymoor district inter-school contest.
To land the trophy, the girls won the years three and four and years five and six sections, while the boys shared the honours with Rose Street Primary.
Netballers won the Spennymoor Town Council cup after a tournament for Spennymoor and Ferryhill schools, held at Ox Close Primary School.
The football team won a tournament organised by local police officer PC Bill Smith for schools in the area.
PE co-ordinator Judith Reeves said: "The school's participation in sport has been tremendous. The prizes are a great achievement and were won not just because of talent but because of the dedication the pupils showed.
"Those pupils who didn't win awards were also tremendous ambassadors for the school because they have all taken part in events, given their all and done so in good spirits."
