A MASSIVE log transformed into a woodland creatures sculpture took centre stage at a family fun day in Middlesbrough.
Inspired by the abundant wildlife at the Linthorpe Cemetery Local Nature Reserve, local artist Steve Iredale used a chainsaw to carve the timber to reflect the feeling of the area.
The event, organised by the Friends of Linthorpe Cemetery, gave people the opportunity to try their hand at a number of environmental arts and crafts including willow weaving, making dream catchers, stick weaving and floral papermaking and for the youngsters there was also face-painting. The Window of Paradise, the popular Linthorpe Cemetery textile, was also on show.
Dorothy Humphryes, secretary of the Friends of Linthorpe Cemetery, said: "This was the highlight of our annual events programme. It was a real fun way for people of any age to come together and have a go at creative arts and crafts that celebrate our local environment."
