A PREGNANT heroin user has been jailed for trying to steal groceries worth almost £800.
Ellen Corrie, 27, of Neasham Road, Darlington, admitted the thefts when she appeared before Northallerton Magistrates' Court yesterday.
The court heard that Corrie, who is five months pregnant, tried to steal two trolleys full of shopping worth £721 from Tesco, in Catterick, earlier this month.
She fled after being spotted by security staff. Corrie then went to the Co-op store in Richmond where she again tried to steal shopping, but left after staff became suspicious.
She was sentenced to three months in prison after the court heard she had committed the offences only two days after she was given a community rehabilitation order for similar offences.
