THE final design of an innovative schools project is expected to be agreed in the coming weeks.
The Extended Schools project in Darlington will replace the town's Skerne Park primary school.
The project will include a primary school, early years and adult education services and a one-stop shop for the Skerne Park community.
Darlington Borough Council officials recently met staff and governors at Skerne Park Primary School to discuss the design of the project.
Issues included the final admission level for the school and design features the staff and governors wanted incorporated.
Headteacher Di Teasdale said: "The school is very excited about the new school building, with staff, parents, and particularly the children, keen to see the building work start in October.
"By being directly involved in the design of the school we know we are going to get a fantastic facility that will encourage and inspire pupils and staff to reach their full potential."
A final design is expected to be agreed with governors in the next few weeks.
The school will open in September next year.
