A SHOPKEEPER has won a car worth £9,000 in a national competition.
Ram Sundavadra, from Belmont, Durham, has been given a Renault Kangoo Van by Unilever Ice Cream and Frozen Foods in a competition judged by the Association of Convenience Stores.
It was designed to help independent retailers increase their frozen food sales and overall store turnover by improving visibility and merchandising in-store.
Mr Sundavadra, who manages a Spar store in Durham, said: "I am delighted to have won this competition. Not only do I have a wonderful new van, but the re-merchandising exercise has led to sales increasing by 45 per cent, which means I am having a great trading year."
