THE gloves will be on for a night of high octane fighting in north Durham at the weekend.

An Ultimate Fighting event promises to rock Consett when it kicks off at the Grove and Moorside Social Club at 7.30pm on Saturday.

It will be a feeder event for Pride and Glory's larger national shows, and will feature up to 15 fights from a wide range of amateur, semi-pro and first-time pro fighters.

This is the second time Pride and Glory Ultimate Fighting will be held in this area, after a capacity crowd in March.

Pride and Glory director and fighting legend Ian "The Machine" Freeman, said: "The whole Mixed Martial Arts community are singing our praises and are already comparing us to the UK's answer to the USA's Ultimate Fighting Championships.

"I have fought numerous times at that show and have won the heavyweight category four times.

"It's one of the biggest fighting events in the world and we at Pride and Glory are absolutely delighted to be compared to them at such an early stage in our game plan."

Each fight will feature two highly skilled and trained fighters fighting for the honour to be a Pride and Glory Ultimate Fighting Champion.

Ian said: "This is the first rung of a long ladder for anyone looking to get into Ultimate Fighting professionally but who knows where it will take them".

Tickets at £20 are available from Ian Freeman on 0793 9231521 or Mick Nokes on 0794 6314085.
