A FAMILY network is winning support from national and local businesses in its pursuit of a permanent base.
The Crook and District Parent Carers Support Group is trying to raise enough money to build a centre in the Wear Valley area.
Founder member Val Fairhurst said that a host of companies and organisations have come to the aid of the group to boost their efforts.
The group has been supported by local councils and was given a photocopier by North West Durham MP Hilary Armstrong and £1,000 for a computer from the Co-op.
The Kensington Hall Hotel, in Willington, and Celebrity Limos, Bishop Auckland, teamed up to provide the top prize in a fundraising raffle.
In addition, Warburtons bakery donated a mountain bike for a Christmas prize draw.
The organisation, formed a year ago, supports families with children who have special needs.
