AFTER last year's Scare-a-Crow for the Show competition raising more than £500 for the Weardale Agricultural Society, organisers have decided to stage the event again this year.
Residents in villages from Westgate to Lanehead are being invited to make life-size scarecrows, and display them outside their homes.
The competition will be judged on Saturday, August 21, by BBC radio personality Frank Wappat and his wife, Susan, who live in the dale.
Entrants are being invited to take their scarecrows to St John's Chapel Agricultural Show on Saturday, August 28.
Entry forms for the competition are available in local shops. For details call Sue Tallentire on (01388) 537590, or Louise Moore on (01388) 537464.
