Gardeners of the future have been demonstrating their skills. Youngsters at Bedale Primary School have created a colourful oasis after catching the gardening bug.
The school decided to create a garden last year and the project became the inspiration for a term's work in the classroom.
Youngsters learned about growth, nutrition and care of the environment.
Since then the school has expanded the garden with the help of a £245 grant from Alan Titchmarsh's Gardens for Schools project.
The children have also been helped by donations from parents. These have included seeds, plants and muscle power.
