CYCLING enthusiasts Lee Gowland and Phil Jones have completed a gruelling biking challenge in Europe to boost funds for charity.
The pair cycled 827km across the French Pyrenness, from Cerbere, on the Mediterranean coast, to Hendaye, on the Bay of Biscay, taking ten days to complete the route.
This week they presented £1,100 to the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland.
Mr Gowland, from Etherley Dene, chose to donate his share of the fundraising to the hospice while Mr Jones raised his funds for a regional motorneuron charity inspired by his uncle, George Brown, of Ferryhill, who has had the condition for ten years.
