SIXTY teenagers were rewarded for giving up the first week of the school holidays on a scheme aimed at helping them top-up their studies.
The year nine pupils from six east Durham comprehensives were presented with new laptop computers when they arrived at the start of an Aimhigher summer school at Sunderland University.
The youngsters, from Easington Community School, Seaham School of Technology, Wellfield School, at Wingate, and Shotton Hall School, St Bede's RC School and Dene Community School, all in Peterlee, can keep the laptops for personal use providing they remain in education and meet homework and coursework commitments.
