Aspiring rock groups and solo acts still have a few weeks to enter The Northern Echo's music competition.

The Revolution Big Chance, sponsored by Music Zone and held in partnership with TFM Radio, aims to give musicians a push towards the big time with a prize of studio time to create 100 CDs.

The winner will also receive CD artwork and funds towards the printing of the artwork.

The competition is in its third year and has helped raise the profile of regional bands such as The Shining and Stone Coda.

Entrants must be from the North-East or North Yorkshire and are asked to send a one-track CD or MP3 of original material to the address found on the website www.thisis revolution.co.uk

Entries must be accompanied by an application form, available from Revolution and the deadline is August 6.

The final will be held at The Forum Music Centre, Darlington, on September 24.

The competition is also sponsored by Fourth Chamber, Blackett Hart and Pratt, and Air Clothing.
