COUNCILLORS have welcomed an inspection of services for disabled adults, despite it being critical of some areas.
A report by the Social Services Inspectorate was presented to members of Darlington Borough Council this week.
It was particularly critical of waiting times for occupational therapy, saying they were unacceptably long.
However, other aspects of the service were praised, with the report saying two-thirds of users were satisfied with the support they received from social services.
Lead inspector Gail Hopper said: "There was a promising capacity for further improvement."
Councillor Eleanor Lister, the council's cabinet member for social services, said: "This is an excellent result for social services in Darlington."
