CHILDREN cut up old school uniforms to tell the tale of a young orphan in their end-of-term musical show.
Girls from years four, five and six at Leeming and Londonderry Primary School performed Annie on Tuesday.
The youngsters had been urged by their teachers to take the major decisions in putting together the show.
Headteacher Rowena Sykes said: "It was particularly impressive because they had no adult help and had been given the opportunity to take initiative and responsibility for the venture.
"The children deserve recognition for their hard work and their ability to produce a play that would equal any organised by adults. Several of the children leave the school next week and it was a lovely end to their primary life."
She added: "They looked scruffy, but nicely so."
