POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the well-being of a man who left home two days ago and has not been seen since.
Gordon Burrows, who lives in the Castle Eden area of east Durham, left the home he shares with his wife, Valerie, at 10.30pm on Wednesday.
Although his cashpoint card was used to withdraw money on two occasions on Thursday - the second occasion at 2.10pm in Peterlee town centre - 50-year-old Mr Burrows has not made any contact since then with his wife and there have been no sightings of him.
Checks with relatives in Hetton-le-Hole have also drawn a blank and police are taking his photograph around town centre pubs in Peterlee in the hope that staff or drinkers may recognise him.
Mr Burrows, a self-employed businessman, has had some domestic problems of late and has been depressed.
He has been prescribed medication for his depression but it is thought he has not taken this for some time.
He is slim, tanned, with hazel eyes and sandy/ginger wavy hair. When he was last seen, he was wearing a white T-shirt, black fleece jogging bottoms and white trainers.
Sergeant Lyn Cordner said: "As Mr Burrows doesn't have a mobile phone and he has no regular haunts that we know of, it makes the search for him quite difficult. We would urge him to contact his wife or any other family member to reassure them he is safe and well.''
