HOT favourite Doyen (4.25) has all of the necessary ingredients to dish out a severe drubbing to his ten rivals in Ascot's glittering King George Vl And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, writes Colin Woods.
Saeed Bin Suroor holds a hugely strong hand in the immensely valuable Group One affair seeing as his second string, Sulamani, can also be given a major chance.
But even though the latter's two Stateside Grade One victories in 2003 put him high among the 12-furlong rankings, it is Doyen who at present appears as if he's going to be crowned Europe's premier middle-distance older horse.
Frankie's Dettori's mount teed up his tilt at today's colossal prize by smashing the course record over track and trip when claiming the Hardwicke Stakes at the Royal meeting in super-sonic style.
Dettori was always sitting pretty on Doyen, although few could have predicted the explosive manner with which Doyen quickened once Frankie went through the gears as heads turned for home.
Perhaps the most potent threat to Doyen's anticipated domination may emerge from Warrsan, who at 6-1 represents a viable each-way alternative to the 11-10 market leader.
Warrsan's trainer Clive Brittainsaid: "He's in good form and I don't fear anything."
