A WALKER had a lucky escape from the incoming tide after he was spotted by a coastguard.
The man, who was in his 30s and from Loftus, east Cleveland, was caught by the tide beneath Huntcliff, near Saltburn, also in east Cleveland.
Skinningrove and Redcar coastguards worked with the crews of the Redcar Atlantic 75 lifeboat and the Peterborough Beer Festival inshore lifeboat to rescue the man after the alarm was raised on Friday evening.
He was taken to safety by the inshore lifeboat and examined by a doctor.
A spokesman from Humber Coastguard said: "If he hadn't been spotted, it could have ended up fatal."
