MICK Fitzgerald makes the long trip to Sedgefield this afternoon and the Irishman can be rewarded with a winner aboard Scamp in the bet365 Call 08000 322365 Mares Only Novices Hurdle over two miles and one furlong.

Steve Gollings' five-year-old showed a fair level of form over this trip on fast ground in bumpers in the first half of last year and was awarded the race in the stewards' room after finishing a close second at Exeter last year.

Although well beaten on her first run for new connections after a lengthy break in April, that was in a Grade 2 contest at Aintree and she'll be a different proposition in this grade.

Although this is her hurdles debut she's sure to have been well schooled and she can make the most of the weight she receives from Miss Holly, who has proved reliable over hurdles so far and will be a good guide to the level of this form.

Fitzgerald can also be on the mark with Eddie O'Grady's Adams Wine in the John Smith's Extra Smooth Beginners Chase over two miles and five furlongs.

He'll have to better the pick of his hurdles form to make a winning start to his chasing career but it'll be no surprise if that is the case, especially as the opposition here is nothing out of the ordinary.

Tony Dobbin also has a good book of rides and he's fancied to be on the mark with Muckle Flugga in the Galaxy No.1 For Dance & R'N'B Novices Handicap Hurdle over the same trip. Nicky Richards' five-year-old has shown improved form on her last two starts at Hexham and Perth over two and a half miles on a sound surface and, with further progress on the cards, can take care of mainly exposed rivals.

Dobbin and Richards can also team up successfully with Droumleigh Lad, who is preferred to Very Tasty in the John Wade Skip Hire Selling Handicap Hurdle over two miles and one furlong.

The gelding ran his best race for some time with the tongue-tie on for the first time at Uttoxeter last time and, if that piece of equipment has the desired effect once again, he's likely to be thereabouts.

Micky Hammond has been among the winners of late and his Karo de Vindecy is interesting in the two miles and five furlong handicap chase, while Ramblees Holly is worth a try over the three miles and three furlongs of the handicap hurdle at 4.30.

Southwell stages an interesting card, lit up by the presence of Frankie Dettori and Johnny Murtagh and the effervescent Italian is fancied to win on Jonny Ebeneezer (4.15) and Safsoof (3.45). Peter Chapple-Hyam fields an interesting runner in Prize Fighter, who looks the day's best bet in the At The Races From 9.am. Nursery over seven furlongs.

This Derby entry fully confirmed debut promise when successful over this course and distance in maiden company last time and, although worse off at the weights with runner up Chutney Mary, is fully expected to confirm those placings.

Arran turned in an improved effort when dividing previous winners Masafi and Downland over a mile here last week and can go one better in the At The Races On ntl, Ireland Handicap over the same trip.

He'll be going up a few pounds in the handicap from Saturday so makes plenty of appeal from the same mark (in the low 50's) and the booking of Seb Sanders is a good one.

At Windsor I Wish is capable of giving a good account in the totesport Fillies' Handicap over six furlongs. This reliable sort has been running well of late and has the best of the draw in stall 14.

A strongly run race will be in her favour and she's taken to get the better of Ballinger Express.

At Yarmouth the best bet on the card could be Hula Ballew, who didn't get the race run to suit at Pontefract last time.

Although higher in the weights, she's one to look out for in the Cockrill Glass Fillies' Handicap over a mile and a quarter.
