A DEDICATED hospital radio producer received a surprise mention at Middlesbrough's Cleveland Show on Saturday.

Alexius Lewczuk, producer of Southside Radio, which entertains patients at the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, thought he was at the show to report on events for the hospital.

But, during the prize ceremony for horses and cattle, he got a surprise mention and was asked to go up on stage to receive a plinth with two caricatures on top made by Stockton blacksmith Bill Wade, from Long Newton.

The trophy, in recognition of his 17 years of hard work for the radio station, was organised by an anonymous donor.

Alexius, who is also a senior lecturer in communications at the University of Lincoln, produces scheduling and programming content for the hospital radio and assists in the training and development of new members.

The caricatures, made from metal, showed two faces.

One was a wicked squire, portraying Alexius' passion for writing and presenting murder mysteries for corporate events, the other a face with a mortar board, portraying his role as a university lecturer.
