Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League: Ashington's lead at the top was trimmed to only nine points when their game at Leadgate was curtailed by the weather but Tynedale managed to complete their fixture and defeat Lanchester.
Following two successive defeats which cost them pole position, Tynedale had plenty to spare when they reduced Lanchester to 162.
It was a much bigger total than looked likely at one stage but Farukh Iqbal (50) and Brian Potts with 43 gave respectability to the innings with a productive partnership. Henry Twizell and Richard Darling both claimed three wickets in the home attack. Tynedale ended on 220 for the loss of just six wickets when they batted first.
Ashington found runs hard to come by at third-top Leadgate where they totalled only 148 which included 74 by opener David Rutherford.
Sacriston enjoyed a romp at Whickham, who need a miracle if they are to maintain First Division status. They suffered their 12th defeat when the former Durham City all-rounder Ross McLaren struck form with bat and ball for Sacriston.
Shotley Bridge are second from bottom after losing to improving Benwell and Walbottle. The near bottom-of-the-table clash between Lintz and Swalwell was abandoned because of rain. The weather was also the winner at Annfield Plain against Newcastle City.
Ponteland beat Alnwick, while Burnopfield defeated Backworth in a run feast fixture.
