AN Air Cadet unit has been awarded the Lindisfarne Trophy - presented each year to the most successful squadron in the region.
The 234 City of Durham Squadron also won the Pusey Trophy for having the most efficient administration in the area.
The trophies were presented to the squadron commander, Flight Lieutenant Liz Marwood.
Ft Lt Marwood said: "This the first time the squadron has won the Lindisfarne trophy in its 62 years of existence in Durham and we hope we will be able to retain these high standards."
The squadron is open to young people aged between 13 and 18. It offers a range of activities from flying and gliding to camping, the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and sport and leadership training. Parade times are Monday and Friday evenings, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Air Cadet hut behind the Travelodge Hotel on Gilesgate roundabout in Durham City.
