A DURHAM Wildlife Trust has been delighted with the response to the launch of its Conservation Awards 2004.
Sponsored by npower, the awards invite entries from individuals and groups who are developing their local environment for the benefit of wildlife and people.
Any ongoing or completed project is eligible to enter. Examples may include the creation of a new habitat such as a wildlife garden, or the improvement of a site where wildlife has been damaged or lost.
The awards offer an opportunity to acknowledge some of the valuable smaller projects that wouldn't normally receive any recognition. The closing date for entries is Friday, August 20, and the winners will be presented with their award by the Duchess of Northumberland at a ceremony in Durham County Hall on October 5.
Anyone who knows of a project that could be eligible can contact Mark James at Durham Wildlife Trust on 0191-584 3112.
