NEARLY one in four men in the region do not like the look of their beer bellies, but are not concerned enough about their health, according to a survey.
The statistics show that 24 per cent of North-East men dislike the look of their stomachs.
A campaign called Size Matters, by Kellogg's and the British Dietetic Association aims to highlight the health risks associated with obesity and the need for North-East men to take weight problems more seriously.
According to a spokeswoman for Size Matters, men in the UK are now at greater risk from obesity than women. Obesity could also decrease a man's chances of fathering a baby and increase the chance of diabetes.
Men should try to eat little and often rather than over-eating, making sure their diet is high in carbohydrates, fibres, fruit and vegetables and low in fat.
