MORE than 140 children and parents from a Darlington estate have enjoyed a day out at Flamingoland, in North Yorkshire.

Youngsters from the Little E's after-school club in the youth and community centre, on the Skerne Park estate, went on the trip after the club received £2,888 from the National Lottery's Awards for All fund. It also received funding to buy a computer games console, dance mats, a television set and games.

The club had to close while repair work was carried out at the community centre after an arson attack in March, and the centre was burgled. But it is now operating again with its maximum of 50 children.
