AN inquiry is to be held into recommendations made by the Boundary Commission on the realignment of constituency boundaries in Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton.
Provisional proposals made by the Boundary Commission for England were made public on March 18 and included the realignment of constituency boundaries with the local government ward boundaries, so that no ward was divided between constituencies.
But a local inquiry must be held under the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 because of objections made about the commission's proposals.
The inquiry will be held by the assistant commissioner John Norris and will open on Monday, September 13, at 10am, in the Council Chamber, Town Hall, High Street, Stockton.
The public can view the provisional recommendations by the Boundary Commission, copies of the representations made to the Commission (together with a summary), and a statement by the Commission, at local libraries and the council offices.
