SOCCER-loving mum Julie Maycock has kicked off her season early after winning a Good Citizen Award.
The award caps a memorable year for Mrs Maycock, 46, who has also lost 4st in weight in preparation for a party to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary in September.
Residents of Clifton, near York, nominated her for the award because they said she has a true sense of community, getting involved in everything from Neighbourhood Watch to slowing down traffic on the estate. The £100 awards, funded by Ryedale Housing Association, part of the Yorkshire Housing Group, have been running for four years.
Mrs Maycock, has lived in Clifton for eight years with her husband and eight-year-old daughter, and was nominated by neighbour and friend Jackie Harrison.
On top of her community work her big passion is York City Football Club and she was one of the many fans who campaigned to save the club when it was experiencing difficulties. She now administers the supporters' club database.
She said: "I was surprised and delighted to win this award. I was not expecting it, but I have put the prize money to good use buying some new clothes after losing so much weight."
