YOUNGSTERS in Stockton have taken part in a residential course aimed at boosting their self confidence.

Twenty-three pupils from schools across Stockton borough, including some with special education needs, took part in the programme, which was funded by the New Opportunities Fund. They participated in a series of educational, social and job orientated activities.

The scheme is staffed by members of Stockton Borough Council's youth service and Connexions and is aimed mainly at year 11 school leavers.

Activities have included initiative tests, team building exercises, ten pin bowling, white water rafting, archery, gorge walking, and job interview exercises.

The students who took part in the residential course received the Asdan Youth Activities Award.
