THIRTY of the brightest youngsters in Darlington have taken part in a summer school learning about the town's history.
The year six and seven pupils have taken part in the Darlington Schools' Gifted and Talented Summer School, which was open to children from Haughton, Longfield and Eastbourne schools and their feeder primary schools.
In the first week, the children took part in ICT, history and geography activities about the town's history. The following week they applied what they had learned into textiles, art projects and drama.
Paddy Denning, the summer school co-ordinator, said: "This is a national initiative, but we have written this specifically about Darlington and made it unique to the town. The kids have really enjoyed it and are all extremely talented. One of the things we do is measure their IQ and one of the girls had an IQ of 149."
