NEW green wheelie bins have been dumped outside council offices by protesting residents.
The bins were left outside Hambleton Council offices in Northallerton on Wednesday night by residents of Brompton, who said they had nowhere to put them.
Households in the village have taken delivery of black bins for normal waste and green bins for garden rubbish, as part of a recycling drive.
One resident of Dane Law Road, who put his bin outside the Stone Cross offices, said: "I put it outside their door so they could see what the problem is. We have nowhere to put them and they make the place look untidy. We just don't want them."
A council spokesman said: "We will be returning the wheelie bins and a member of staff will explain to the resident why they need to have them.
"The issue of access is something that has been raised before and we have always been able to find a solution.
"Where wheeled bins are in operation, they have been extremely well received."
