CARNIVAL organisers have plugged into one of the region's energy suppliers to help make this year's event bigger and better.
The 32nd Peterlee Show, which takes place on September 4 and 5, has secured the backing of npower, one of the area's largest employers.
As main sponsor for the second year running, npower is working in close partnership with the show committee at Peterlee Town Council.
In addition to a cash contribution, prizes of free gas and electricity for a year and signed npower Test cricket merchandise, employees from the company will be taking part in many of the fun events to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Julie Jaglowski, of npower, said: "We have hundreds of staff and thousands of customers in this area, so npower want to help with what is important to them.
"As a major employer, we are delighted to be able to support the Peterlee show, which over the years has become part of the heritage of the town.''
Councillor Bill Jeffrey, leader of the town council said: "The council works very hard every year to make the event a success and our continued close partnership with npower is vital to enable us to make the show as enjoyable and entertaining as possible for the people of the town.''
