FAMILIES with children aged under four have been invited to join in a playday at their local SureStart scheme.
The Brandon and Deerness Valley areas of Sure Start will be holding the event at Deerness Valley Comprehensive School, Bracken Court, Ushaw Moor, Durham, from 1pm to 3pm on Wednesday.
Activities include face painting, a bouncy castle, inflatable slide and a balloon modeller, juggler and clown.
SureStart is a Government-funded programme that aims to improve services to all young families.
The partnership of Brandon and Deerness Valley SureStart includes parents, community organisations, Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust, Durham County Council and a number of voluntary agencies.
Brandon and Deerness Valley SureStart co-ordinator Barry Bird said: "Through the Sure Start partnership, we can work with parents and children to give youngsters the best possible start in life and we can do this through such events as a playday."
