FANS of Paul Gascoigne are being given the chance to have dinner with the football legend, while raising money for a North-East charity.

The former England international is giving people the chance to bid for a dinner date with him on ebay.co.uk

Proceeds of the auction will go towards developing and maintaining patient care at the Hartlepool and District Hospice.

The top bidder and a friend will be treated to dinner with Gazza at the Lotus Garden, at The Marina, Hartlepool, and will receive one of the first signed copies of his new book.

The 37-year-old former Newcastle United, Middlesbrough and England star said: "We want everybody to get involved in this auction and help raise as much money as possible for this important charity."

Gascoigne got involved in the auction after he was approached by Century radio presenter Paul "Goffy" Gough, who is organising his second series of events for the hospice.

Earlier this year, a dinner with Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer raised more than £60,000. It was held in memory of Goffy's sister, Angela O'Hara.
