A MULTI-cultural festival of music and dance could attract bumper crowds.
The organisers of the Sunderland Mega Mela, Unity, which promotes racial understanding in the city, are hoping for a big turnout.
The main event will take place at Cliffe Park, Seaburn, on Sunday, from noon until 8pm.
Attractions include bangra singer Syed Murshed Ahmed, Stars in Their Eyes heat winner Charlotte Reid and African musicians.
Last year the event, regarded as one of Europe's leading melas, attracted 7,000 people and the hope is that the figure will be exceeded.
Tahri Kahn, of Unity, said the event was helping to bridge cultural gaps.
"It brings multi-cultural awareness to the community of Sunderland. It is very good to be able to all come together like this."
Admission and parking are free.
