RESIDENTS of a North-East seaside town have been praised after a Redcar teenager was given a four-year anti-social behaviour order (Asbo.)

Scott Wood, of Harwal Road, Redcar, was served with the order at Teesside Magistrates on Wednesday.

Officers involved in the case to prosecute Wood have praised people for coming forward with evidence about the teenager.

The 17-year-old will have to must keep to the following conditions of the order until February 23, 2008, when he will be 21:

l He must not act in a way which causes or is likely to cause harassment, distress or alarm to anyone within the borough of Redcar and Cleveland;

l He must not incite other people to behave in an anti-social way;

l He must not throw or propel any stone or missile or object towards any building, motor vehicle or person without good reason or lawful authority;

l He must not be in possession of an alcoholic drink or alcohol container in a public place and not be under the influence of alcohol or any drug other than prescribed drugs;

l He must not be involved in or aid and abet or conspire to commit any criminal act which is contrary to the Public Order Act 1986 or contrary to common law;

l He must not approach or enter Bells Stores, in High Street, Marske, Bells Stores in Gurney Street, New Marske, or the shops in Kilbridge Close, New Marske, or threaten or annoy the staff or customers in these stores.
