CARERS from Sedgefield borough met the Princess Royal at a conference.
Mental health carers Gerald Selbie and Councillor Vince Crosby joined Nicola Close, a mental health carer support worker, at the Royal College of Psychiatrists' conference in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
The Princess, who received an honorary fellowship, made a speech to more than 600 psychiatrists.
Mr Selbie, who lives in Newton Aycliffe, said: "I am pleased to see how much time the princess had when talking to carers and how well she listened to our needs."
Coun Crosby, a member of Sedgefield borough and Great Aycliffe town councils, spoke to the princess about a charter to tackle the stigma of mental health in the workplace.
