A TEESSIDE MP will give her support to one of the region's best-loved charities next week.
Dari Taylor, MP for Stockton South, will present a £1,000 cheque to Butterwick Hospice in Stockton on Tuesday.
The money has been raised by gas pipeline operator Transco as part of the company's safety awareness scheme.
Employees were asked to report potential safety hazards in exchange for a donation to the company's nominated charity.
Mrs Taylor, Labour MP for Stockton South, said: "I am absolutely delighted to present a cheque on behalf of Transco to Butterwick Hospice. In order to ensure that Butterwick Hospice is able to continue to provide its free, irreplaceable services to so many people, it is essential that money is raised on their behalf."
Transco has raised £428,136 for charities across the North of England during the past four years.
Butterwick Hospice provides free care and support for adults and children suffering from life-threatening illnesses through its centres in Stockton and Bishop Auckland. It costs about £2m a year to keep the Hospice running.
