A VALUED, but unofficial, guide book has been revived - and at the 11th hour saved from extinction.
"When we first moved here as a group of young mums, we wanted to know how to contact local organisations," said Guisborough housewife Jacqui Gallon, explaining the origins of the town's unofficial directory.
She and a handful of like- minded friends got together to publish a directory of useful telephone numbers and information.
Over the decades, the publication grew from a couple of sheets to 80 pages, published up to three times each year. But then it threatened to fizzle out.
"Twenty years later, we have all moved on and it is time for another organisation to take over the work," said housewife Elizabeth Hopkirk.
But help is at hand. The Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton has stepped in to bring out the next edition, at the end of the year.
"There has been a lapse of a couple of years since the last issue. We need to hear from every organisation that would like to be included in the guide," said retired printer, rotarian Peter Sotheran.
