PLANS for the redevelopment of health centres in Sedgefield borough were discussed at a public meeting.
The Patient and Public Involvement Forum Sedgefield held the event at The Pioneering Care Centre, in Newton Aycliffe.
Bob Parker, projects manager for Sedgefield Primary Care Trust, spoke about plans to redevelop Newton Aycliffe Health Centre, and for the development of centres in Chilton and Spennymoor.
The Aycliffe centre will incorporate health services, a library and information point and social services. It will also include an 'art in the environment and workplace' initiative.
The forum has designed a questionnaire to gather public views on what to include in in the health centre.
Any member of the public who would like to complete the questionnaires or express their views can contact Jane King, on (01325) 327463.
The meeting was attended by Alan Inglis and Ann Workman, from the Sedgefield trust, who spoke about the development of integrated teams, the first of which recently began operating from Tremeduna Grange, Trimdon.
It provides a holistic service for adults with special needs and disabilities. There are plans to expand the service to the four other areas of Sedgefield in the next 18 months.
