HUNDREDS of runners will take to the streets of Darlington next weekend for the town's annual 10K road race.
More than a thousand people have signed up for Sunday's event, which starts at 10.30am.
There will also be a race for junior athletes, aged 13 to 16, starting at 9.45am, and a fun run at 9.15am.
Many participants will be raising money for the race's chosen charity, St Teresa's Hospice.
The race, sponsored by Sherwoods car dealership, is organised each year by Darlington Borough Council, with the help of Darlington Rotary Club and the police.
Jeff Dawson, the authority's events manager, said: "Everyone involved with the event is keeping their fingers crossed that there is no repeat of last year's amazing weather, when monsoon conditions put many sections of the course under water and runners were wading through knee-deep water."
