PLANS to build eight bungalows for pensioners in a north Durham town are likely to be approved by councillors.
Nomad Housing Group has applied to Derwentside District Council to build the bungalows at 72 to 86 Westfields in Stanley.
A site notice was posted and neighbours have been consulted, with no objections being lodged.
In a report to the authority's development control committee on Thursday, planning chiefs will recommend that the proposals be approved.
The bungalows will be semi-detached and each will contain two bedrooms.
A new traffic access will be created across the grassed area to the front of 111 to 116 Westfields. Eight parking spaces will be provided.
The site is occupied by homes that are due to be demolished. The site also incorporates a garage court which is in poor repair.
In a report to the committee, principal planning officer Fiona Clarke said: "The scheme represents an opportunity to redevelop land within the urban area and is considered to be acceptable in principle, complying with local plan policy and national planning guidance."
She said: "The proposed bungalows are well designed and would enhance the appearance of this part of the Eastfields/Westfields estate, contributing to the regeneration of Stanley."
