CHARITY shop staff have hunted out some bargain buys for an antiques day this week.
The event is being held on Thursday at the Help the Aged Shop, 87 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland.
Shop manager Jennifer Salt said: "We have spent the past few months putting to one side pieces which look interesting and unique.
"We are often surprised by the quality of donations we receive. It may be that someone has grown tired of an ornament or perhaps inherited something that they do not care for.
"By passing them on to us they are confident that the money we raise from selling on will be used to help older people in need to live better lives."
Some of the projects funded by Help the Aged include SeniorLink, which provides community alarm telephones, SeniorMobility which provides adapted minibuses, and SeniorLine 0808 800 6565, the charity's free welfare rights advice service.
