A SAFETY initiative that could help save people from serious injury has been installed in Station Road, Richmond.
The puffin crossing is part of a five-year plan to improve traffic management in the town following local consultation.
Tactile paving has also been used to help blind and partially-sighted people.
The county council's executive member for environmental services, Councillor Peter Sowray, said: "Traffic management is a high priority, and this five-year scheme will show vast improvements in Richmond."
He added: "The new technology is essential in providing safe crossing places for all pedestrians, especially elderly and partially-sighted people."
