MEMBERS of a Darlington society for people aged over 50 have planted a time capsule in the grounds of a new extra-care housing scheme.
Members of the Growing Older Living in Darlington (Gold) group chose a number of items to go into the capsule, which is being buried at Mayflower Court, in the town.
The slab is being placed in the entrance to the housing scheme and will not be opened until autumn 2103.
Leslie Compson, a Gold community development worker, said: "A stone slab donated and engraved by Councillor Bill Stenson will be placed over the top to mark the position."
An engraved brass plate and photograph of members of the Gold Housing and Practical Support Services Task Group, donated by South West Durham Training Centre, will also be placed inside the entrance to the building.
