Ten long-term unemployed people in Teesside have won job placements with heating insulation companies, with prospects of permanent work.
They were among more than 100 hopefuls who visited two recruitment days run by Redcar and Cleveland Warm Zone in Eston and Redcar.
The jobs were made possible after the Warm Zone team secured £170,000 funding from Europe to create jobs for long-term unemployed people.
The chosen ten have gone into work placement positions with the Warm Zone or one of its partner companies.
They have secured job placements ranging from office staff to insulation surveyors or installers and are guaranteed a year's training and experience, which could culminate in a nationally recognised qualification and prospects of a job.
Peter Burnip, European project manager, said "The training, experience and qualifications that they will gain over the next year will stand them in good stead for the future and will hopefully be the start of long careers."
