DESTROYER HMS Newcastle will make its final visit to the UK tomorrow.
The 26-year-old Type 42 vessel is to be decommissioned at the end of January next year.
For the past seven months HMS Newcastle has been deployed on a Nato anti-terrorism mission in the Mediterranean, monitoring the movement of merchant ships.
The gunboat queried 731 vessels during the operation and boarded two, but nothing suspicious was found.
During a break in activities, HMS Newcastle joined warships from Bulgaria, Romania and the Ukraine in the Black Sea for Exercise Co-operative Partner, aimed at increasing understanding between the four navies.
Next month, the destroyer will be a major attraction at the Southampton Boat Show, before heading to Newcastle for a farewell visit on Wednesday, September 22.
