CIVIC leaders from a German town paid a visit to its English twin over the weekend.
The Burgomaster of Hamminkeln, Holgar Schlierf, and his wife, Krista, spent an eventful few days in Sedgefield
The couple, among a party of six visitors, were welcomed at Newcastle Airport with a torrential downpour, but the weather was much kinder for the rest of their short stay.
They were entertained by members of Sedgefield Twinning Association, and during their visit they attended a coffee morning, were treated to a pub lunch, visited Durham City and Crookhall House.
They enjoyed a cruise on the River Tees and lunch in Yarm, followed by a visit to Preston Park, Eaglescliffe.
On Sunday, they took in a typically English garden party in Stockton followed by an evening get-together in Sedgefield's Ceddesfeld Hall.
Monday included a look round the village's St Edmund's Church, and a climb up the church tower, before their return trip to Germany.
