A MAN has appeared in court in connection with a disturbance which ended with a three-hour house siege, in Saltburn, east Cleveland.

Carl Owston, of Amber Street, Saltburn, appeared in Guisborough Magistrates' Court yesterday, charged with racially aggravated assault, common assault, affray, two offences of threats to kill and two of criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody until tomorrow.

A teenage boy has also been charged with affray, racially aggravated harassment, threats to kill and criminal damage, following the same incident. He will appear at court at a later date.

Another youth has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
