NORTH-East bakery chain Greggs announced a ten per cent rise in profits over the last six months.
The chain, which has 1,242 shops, said a drive to modernise its brand had led to higher sales, particularly of sandwiches and its core sale of sausage rolls.
Greggs benefited from less sweltering temperatures this year than last, when soaring temperatures eased demand for its products.
